The Purpose of Life

I think I've figured it out!!!

I think that deep down inside, we are all megalomaniacs (like how I used that?!).

We all want power, and success.

And we will work to get there - which is what we are all doing, whether we like it or not. Out society now dicates that we have to work, and we have to be successful.

Think about it; at the moment, I'm working my butt off trying to get all my coursework done before the moderation day. But after that, the works not gonna stop - I'm gonna have to start revising for my GCSEs.
Then I get the rest of the summer off, and what do I do?! Come back to 6th form and start working towards my AS exams. Why?! So that I can get good results and carry them on till my A2 exams.
What for?! So that I can get into a good university. A good university is one that gets a lot of good results - the universities that have all the smart people in who have worked hard.
Then, (since I wanna be a doctor, I'll use that example) once I get into university, the work doesnt stop there. I'll have to continue slaving away for another 5 or 6 years til I get my first degree. To finish off the degree, I'll have to work for 2 years in a hospital ward. After those 2 years, I'll have to do another 1 or 2 years as a Senior HO in a ward. Then, I'll have to work another few years, and pass a few more exams to become a registrar. Then I'll have to work for another few years, and then I'll become a consultant. After that, I can just sit back, coz you can't get any higher than a consultant.
But do you know how old you are by the time you become a consultant?! Getting on for 40. I don't even wanna think about what I'll be like when I'm 40.
Plus, during all those years I'll have to be doing shift work, and also be on call. So the work doesn't stop!!!
Also, I may have got married and had children - so I'll have to look after them.

WHAT IS THE POINT?!?!??!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

People work hard, so they can get a better job and work even harder. WHY?!?!??!?!!

Because we are all megalomaniacs. How scary is that?!?!?!

What am I on about...?! Working isn't the purpose of life. Love is.

Definitely.

Just because.

Without love, there would be no life. No new babies would be born, because in theory, they are created by love. And without love everyone would kill eachother, so the entire human race would die out.


Forget it, I'm not going to University. or even to 6th Form. I'm off to join a Hippy Love Colony.
